dual cell phone case

This simple cell phone case pattern has two different endings. You can choose a top flap to keep the cell phone completely encased while it’s in your purse, or a top loop so you can attach the case to the outside of your purse.

Pattern:
Using G hook and small amount of worsted weight yarn (I used Caron Simply Soft in black)
This cell phone case was designed for the average size flip phone. My model measures 3.25″ x 1″ x 1.75″
Chain 6
1: 2 sc in second chain from hook, (sc in next chain) 4 times, 2 sc in next chain.
working in back loops of original chain 2 sc in same chain, (sc in next chain) 4 times, 2 sc in next chain, slip stitch to first sc to join and chain 1 (16 sc)
2: sc in same sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next sc) 5 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next sc) 4 times, 2 sc in next sc, slip stitch to first sc to join and chain 1 (20 sc)
3: sc in same sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next sc) 6 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next sc) 4 times, 2 sc in next sc, slip stitch to first sc to join and chain 1 (24 sc)
4: working in front loops only, sc in each sc around, slip stitch to first sc to join, chain 1 (24 sc)
5-19: sc in each sc around, slip stitch to first sc to join, chain 1, do not finish off (24 sc)
choose 1 of 2 ways to end
to make a top loop for attaching to purse:
20: sc in first sc, chain 30
21: sc in 5th chain from hook, (sc in next sc) to bottom, sc to next sc from row 19 (21 sc)
22: sc in each stitch around opening and top loop, sc to first sc, finish off and weave in ends
attach button to the side of the case opposite where the loop joins.
to make a top flap:
20: slip stitch in first 2 sc, (sc in next sc) 4 times, chain 1 and turn (4 sc)
21-24 (sc in next sc) 4 times, chain 1 and turn (4 sc)
25: (sc in next sc) 4 times, chain 4 and turn (4 sc)
26: sc in second chain from hook, (sc in next chain) 2 times, (sc in next sc) 4 times, chain 1 and turn (7 sc)
27: (sc in next sc) 9 times, chain 1 and turn (7 sc)
28: (sc in next sc) 3 times, chain 3, skip 2 sc, (sc in next sc) 3 times, chain 1 and turn (6 sc)
29: sc around top flap and opening, slip stitch to first sc to join, finish off
attach button to side of case opposite where the top flap joins
